"Miracles Through Service". A simple phrase with powerful meaning and expansive reach to affect countless individuals. First used by former International President Al Brandel of New York as his motto during his IP tenure in 2008, I thought it appropriate to reenvision this powerful statement to explore our Lion past as we reflect on the lives impacted by our service to others and looking forward towards the future of service.Â
Since 1921 the Billings Lions Club has provided hope, vision, hearing, disaster relief, kindness, service to humanity, relief from the stressors of the world, and friendship to all that we encounter and serve.
From our inaugural charter November 1921, the Billings Lions Club has sponsored several clubs in the states of Montana and Wyoming and has continued to hold the 1921 International President E.W. Cameron and Lions Internationals conviction steadfast that "Lions Club is unselfish in purpose and ideals", and that members "owe something to the country and to the community".
We Serve is our motto, and the members of the Billings Lions Club have been offering our volunteer service for over a century- through our camp, the Beartooth Mountain Youth Camp -giving other organizations a place to convene and impact youth and adults since 1927, to the Lions Deserving Boy Camp, started in 1946, the Charles Campbell Children's Camp- originally started in 1961 as the "Handicap Camp", with vision screenings, assistance for eye glasses and hearing aids, to our assistance with the founding of the Zimmerman Trail, ZooMontana, the Montana Salvation Army, the Ronald McDonald House, and countless other projects and organizations.
We look forward to seeing you in the community or at one of our meetings. If you are interested in becoming a Lions Club Member- we meet the first Wednesday of the month at the Copper Onion Bistro (115 Shiloh Road, Billings MT) with a social hour at 6pm. Being a Lions member is a life changing opportunity to provide countless miracles through serving others.
Yours in Service-
